Falafel Brothers
Let me just start by saying these are some very cool guys.
I first started tweeting to them before they were even on the road, chatting up my mission and good spots to hit near Merch. Great. They'll keep me posted. Swell.
So imagine my surprise one day as Eva and I were walking to 600 West and I caught a tweet that they just finished a sampling at Lake and Clinton. Wha-wha-whaaaat? Minor twitter razzing ensued, natch.
So I was completely blown away when Ali tweeted to me that they'd deliver a free lunch to me. How fricken' cool was that?!
Alas, it breaks every rule in the book:
- I have to go to the truck; it can't come to me
- I can't pre-order; I'm subject to whatever is available at the time (asking them to hold something is still legal)
- I have to trade currency for grub
Regardless, I graciously accepted, knowing full well that I'd have to hit these guys again. Though I did try to pay and was kindly refused. I was also shocked to find out that this was the week before they even opened up for business. They were doing a big sampling campaign (very smart). We parted ways, me letting them know I couldn't wait until I could visit them again to make it official.
Hitting a truck before it was officially on the streets?! Achievement unlocked.
And while I'm certainly no falafel expert, I do love them and have eaten falafel from about half a dozen places and make my own on occasion. Hands down, these were the best I've had.
So it was with extreme pleasure that Eva, Iva and I trekked to 600 West to officially add Falafel Brothers to the mission log. And it was just as good as I remembered it. I very much look forward to my next visit.
Follow that Truck!
